Overview

Subsea7 is seeking a Legal Graduate on a 12-18 month contract in our Sutton, London office. 

As part of our international legal department based in the UK offices of a company listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (Norway) with operational headquarters in London, you will be actively involved in the legal life of the business. Working under the supervision of experienced international lawyers and legal counsels, you will contribute to matters involving contract law, corporate law and commercial law. 

 

Our Legal Department comprises several specialist teams, each playing a vital role in supporting Subsea7's global operations:

  • Commercial Legal: The Commercial Legal team qualify and negotiate complex contracts and any associated documentation for Subsea7's offshore energy projects, including Transport & Installation, EPCI contracts, and renewable projects. The team ensures legal compliance, risk mitigation, and commercial protection across international jurisdictions, whilst supporting the tendering teams.

  • Corporate Legal: Corporate Legal is responsible for the good corporate governance of the Group's legal entities including the incorporated joint ventures. The team manages corporate matters across the Group, including M&As and strategic restructuring.

  • Insurance: The insurance team are part of our legal team whilst functioning independently across the group. Our in-house insurance team are responsible for all insurance matters across both Subsea7 and Seaway7. Our insurance team are specialists in marine insurance, project-specific coverage for offshore operations, liability management for subsea installations, and coordinate with our underwriters to ensure we have suitable coverage for our business in our complex offshore energy projects. The other legal departments and Insurance interface in identifying legal and contractual risks and opportunities which help define the risk management and insurance strategies of the group.

  • Compliance and Ethics: The Compliance and Ethics department ensures adherence to regulatory requirements across the global energy sector, implementing comprehensive anti-corruption programmes for international operations and maintaining robust sanctions compliance frameworks.

What will you be doing?

As a Legal Graduate, you will gain exposure to various aspects of our legal operations across the department. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Supporting the Commercial Legal team by:

· assisting with the review and analysis of international contracts for offshore energy projects.

· conducting legal research on contractual matters and international jurisdictions.

· preparing contract summaries and risk analysis reports.

· supporting the tendering teams with legal documentation; and

· contributing to the development of standard contract templates and precedents.

Assisting Corporate Legal with:

· corporate governance matters including preparation of board and shareholder resolutions.

· company formation and eliminations.

· maintaining corporate records and statutory registers.

Contributing to Insurance and risk management activities by:

· assisting with the review of insurance policies and coverage terms;

· supporting the identification and analysis of contractual risks; and

· helping to maintain insurance documentation and records.

Supporting Compliance and Ethics initiatives including:

· assisting with regulatory compliance research.

· contributing to the development and maintenance of compliance procedures; and

· supporting anti-corruption and sanctions compliance programmes.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • You should possess an LLB/LLM, BA/BSc or equivalent degree in Law, Business and Legal Studies, or a similar subject.
