Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Workplace Technology Engineer to join our team in Sutton, London on a full-time permanent basis. The Senior IT Workplace Technology Engineer will provide high-quality onsite technical and operational support across end-user devices, systems, and IT services.

 

This role sits within a business facing IT support environment, where technology reliability and user experience are critical to the day-to-day operations of the business. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and senior stakeholders to ensure technology is always ready, reliable, and running smoothly.

This position will be the first point of contact in supporting Subsea7’s Executive Committee and Senior Leadership – the successful candidate must be flexible to work from the Sutton office 5 days per week, be adaptable to out of hours support and global travel if required.  This position will report into the IT Service Delivery Lead and provide support and cover in their absence.

 

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with a proactive, ownership-driven approach to support. This means anticipating technology needs, preparing environments ahead of key meetings or events, and ensuring users receive a consistently high standard of service.

 

You will also play an important role in guiding the third-party IT engineers and supporting onsite IT operations, acting as a senior point of contact when required.

What will you be doing?

       Onsite Technical Support

  • Provide advanced deskside support including deployment, repair, and troubleshooting of end-user devices such as PCs, laptops, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and AV equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software in line with operational procedures and IT standards.
  • Manage device builds, configuration, and deployment, ensuring compliance with security and company standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve Windows OS, application, and network-related issues with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate device moves, installs, and changes, ensuring accurate asset tracking and documentation.
  • Maintain spare parts and hardware inventory, working with suppliers to ensure timely replacements.
  • Use judgement and initiative to resolve non-routine technical issues effectively.
  • Act as a senior onsite escalation point for technical issues when necessary.
  • Support IT service management processes including incident, request, asset, and change management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and support efficiency.
  • Ensure documentation, procedures, and asset inventories remain accurate and up to date.

    Meeting Rooms & Business Event Support
  • Support meeting room and conferencing technologies, including audio, video, and collaboration platforms.
  • Prepare and test meeting room technology in advance of important meetings and events.
  • Provide onsite support for large meetings, town halls, or leadership presentations, ensuring AV and conferencing systems operate smoothly.
  • Anticipate potential issues and ensure technology is fully operational 

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Vocational or technical qualification in IT (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Extensive hands-on experience in IT technical support or deskside support environments.
  • Strong experience supporting Windows operating systems, applications, and end-user hardware across macOS and Android platforms.
  • Experience supporting meeting room and conferencing technologies., including MS Teams Rooms and collaborating with third-party AV specialists. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve non-routine issues independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Beyond technical skills, success in this role requires someone who takes genuine ownership of the onsite support environment.
