Title:  Senior Piping Consultant

What will you be doing?

Under guidance from a Discipline Manager, Lead or Principal Engineer a Senior Piping Consultant provides engineering expertise to the structures and piping discipline.

  • Provides skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of piping engineering. Technically competent and aware of piping design codes and their specific application i.e. ASME B31.8, ASME B31.4 and B31.3, DNV-ST-F101
  • Works as part of the project team, supporting the Principal/Lead in performing piping engineering for successful project delivery
    • Independently evaluates, organises and prioritises work which is normally subject to internal checking and approval.
    • Undertakes analysis, design and engineering activities associated with Subsea Piping Design – Wall Thickness Calculations, Piping Stress Analysis, Detailed Drawings (GA & Isometric), piping layouts, P&IDs and ownership of Technical Scope of Works and Material Take-Offs.
    • Originates and/or checks technical deliverables, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy ensuring compliance with codes, standards and client specifications
    • Knowledge of Flanges, Connectors, Valves Standards (ASME B16.5, API 6A/API 17D).
    • Knowledge of Typical Subsea Piping Materials – Carbon Steels, Alloys, Nickel-Alloys, Super Duplex.
    • Support SCM in placing PO for procurement of Piping specific package as a technical owner
    • Produce CTR estimates for relevant scopes of work.
    • Identifies project opportunities, raising them to the required personnel
    • Technically competent in identifying technical clarifications and originating technical query and deviation requests.

 

  • Provide regular feedback to the project/discipline lead engineer on workload and requests for additional support
  • Ensure full traceability of the technical development of the assigned scope throughout the life of the project
  • Support other engineering disciplines through all stages of the project, for example, from structural engineering, procurement to onshore fabrication
  • Ensure engineering performed is effective and quality driven
  • Actively engage in project meetings, design reviews, capture of Lessons Learned and application of Engineering Standards
  • Ensures all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
  • Represents the Company in meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc. in a technical capacity.
  • Provide Technical Engineering Support to other departments within the engineering group
  • Provide support to Tender Lead in delivering tender documents such as Material Take Offs, Scope of Works, Risks & Opportunities and Engineering sketches/drawings.

 

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Engineering bachelor’s or master’s degree (MEng), ideally Mechananical
  • Relevant experience in onshore and offshore/Subsea piping design
  • Capable of leading piping projects if required
  • Willingness to travel if required by project to supplier and fabrication sites and to Subsea 7 offices in other countries
