Overview of role
The Drafter Level I is responsible for producing drawings and sketches consistent with good engineering practice and in compliance with company drawing office procedures.
All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.
Requirements
Under supervision provides design drafting skills of a high quality and efficient output for all project work undertaken.
Provide CAD skills and knowledge both 2D and where appropriate 3D.
Ensure adherence to the Business Management System (BMS).
Actively participate in relevant training and development to pursue continuing professional development.
Interface with Drafting Supervisor, Lead Designer or Principal Designer to ensure CAD deliverable schedule is being met.
Ensure compliance with company QA and HSE procedures.
Ensure that design services provided comply with company standards and processes in line with appropriate legislation.
Operate within standardized engineering policies, processes, and systems.
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards used in the drafting work carried out.
Liaise directly when instructed with Project Engineers on installation drawings and sketches.
Comply with all quality system requirements regarding production, registering, revision and filing of drawings.
Communicate with other Designers to ensure knowledge sharing, best practice and competence.
Help ensure engineering compliance, so that Subsea 7 can deliver quality engineering solutions and avoid errors.
Record lessons learned and Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs) to assist in improved company systems and services.
Become familiar and comply with engineering control systems. Follow Company training scheme where applicable.
Contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7.
Required Experience and Education
Ability to function within a design team and across multiple projects.
Sound communication skills, oral, written, and electronic.
Ability to prioritize own workload and manage time accordingly.
Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
Professional qualifications – Drafting and Design Associates degree ideally in Structural/Mechanical (Demonstrable experience in a similar role will also be considered).
Relevant design and drafting experience (2-3 years required) in producing layouts, installation, transportation, and fabrication within the Marine and/or Oil and Gas industry.
Familiar with drafting industry codes, standards, and design guidelines.
Proficient with the latest developments in CAD tools and applications.
Knowledge of Vault and Inventor preferred.
