OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Job Location: Paris or Lisbon
The PROJECT ASSURANCE LEAD (PAL), with the support of their team, provides overall Marine Assurance guidance to ensure the acceptance of offshore assets is done in the safest and most efficient way. This person has a key role in the onshore and offshore marine’ operations readiness.
The PAL supports projects and tenders as an expert, supporting Marine Assurance team, by answering or clarifying technical queries through the selection and vetting process of marine units, both internally and externally for the client.
The PAL supports the development and implementation of clear marine assurance processes within the Africa, Middle East, Mediterranean and Türkiye area of operation (AME region).
The PAL supports various Project Operation Manager with the creation of detailed vessel inspection plans and strategy within the region.
The PAL supports other assurance team members for their respective scopes (crewing, diving, general marine, DP, equipment specialists, etc.) and engages with various stakeholders to ensure all assurance activities are performed consistently and effectively.
SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES
1. Technical Support and Query Resolution:
- Support the Marine Assurance team by answering or clarifying technical queries through the selection and vetting process of marine units, both internally and externally considering specific client or location requirements.
2. Vessel Inspection and Assurance, strategy and planning:
- Develop detailed vessel inspection plans tailored to assigned vessels, operations, and client requirements.
- Implement clear marine assurance processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and protocols.
3. Subject matter expert:
- Actively participate in the company's expertise related to marine assurance, contributing to the development and enhancement of assurance practices.
- Develop, share and maintain associated lessons learn.
4. Management of Findings and Close-Out:
- Review inspection reports to identify findings and areas for improvement.
- When required, facilitate the resolution and close-out of findings, ensuring actions are implemented effectively.
- Ensure the documentation is maintained and tracking of all assurance-related activities is done efficiently, including findings and corrective measures.
5. Equipment and Testing Oversight:
- Support engineers, pipeline groups (PG), offshore resources (OR), and third-party suppliers in equipment testing and assurance activities, identifying early any Company/Project additional requirements and addressing them.
- Ensure all necessary tests and validations are conducted prior to operations, addressing any identified issues.
6. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
- Engage with key stakeholders, both in the office and on-site, to coordinate assurance activities and requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison between vessel teams, offshore resources, office teams, and third-party providers.
- Deliver clear, actionable updates and recommendations to management on assurance progress and outcomes.
7. Personnel Training and Development:
- Coordinate training providers and stakeholders to address any skill gaps for operational execution.
- Review Marine Assurance team man-plan with project team ahead of operations to ensure proper level of support.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence among all team members.
What experience would we like you to have?
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Class/Flag State Training) are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in offshore operations or marine assurance roles.
• Hands-on experience with vessel inspections, dynamic positioning systems, reel dive system and/or other heavy offshore machinery.
• Prior exposure to project management or assurance roles is an advantage.
• Offshore Survival Training (e.g., BOSIET/FOET).
• DP Practitioner Certificate or similar qualification is preferred.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as IMCA, OCIMF, and ISO frameworks.
• Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and quality assurance practices.
• Proficiency in inspection tools and software relevant to offshore assurance.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other reporting tools.
• Understanding of condition monitoring techniques and asset management systems is a plus.
