The Strategic Technology Manager - Welding and Materials is accountable for the planning, coordinating and delivery of all technological advancements activities within a Strategic Technology Program called “Cost Efficient Material”. This program covers Materials, Jointing and NDT topics . The Strategic Technology Manager is responsible for the leadership of specialist teams and the activities and the management of people associated with delivery of the enhanced capability.

It is probable that the Program falls within the Strategic Technology Manager expert field.  In principle, the Program might in the medium term change and as such Strategic Technology Managers may change to align with Program, thus matching expertise to Program. Equally, Programs are anticipated to complete and finish. It may be possible that upon successful Program execution a Strategic Technology Manger may take responsibility of another Program.

The Strategic Technology Manager is responsible for the subsequent commercial introduction and integration of the technological advancement into the business, supported by the Technology Country Managers.

What will you be doing?

  • Determine value proposition of specialist technology with the wider business
  • Appraise knowledge gaps internally and externally
  • Develop Technology Roadmap for Development
  • Set clear objectives for Technology Readiness Level (TRL) progression
  • Develop work packages and CTRs for sustainable development programme
  • Negotiate resources from business functions and partners
  • Identify and protect company's intellectual property
  • Execute Technology plan with clear objectives for self and reports
  • Manage timely, cost-effective delivery of activities
  • Periodically check technology's relevance with business
  • Monitor competitors' offerings
  • Provide input to budget and monthly reports
  • Input into Departmental Key Performance Indicators (Progress)
  • Provide specialist support to projects and other disciplines within Subsea7
  • Support Technology Director with progress, spend, and future business introduction
  • Promote company's expertise internally and externally
  • Identify knowledge gaps before business introduction
  • Work with business development, field development, technology managers, and tender teams
  • Assist Technology country manager with multi-year Territory plan
  • Support projects in first adoption of new technology
  • Support product/service teams to widen commercial adoption and usage
