Mission
The Global Projects Centre (GPC) is Subsea7's centre of excellence for the execution of its largest projects worldwide.
Within the Subsea Structures Design Department, reporting to a Senior or Lead Engineer, Level 1 or 2 Structure Design Engineer will provide engineering and technical skills to a live Project Team or supporting studies and tenders: you will be responsible of producing detailed engineering to deliver project work such as in-place design, transportation, lifting, deployment, retrieval analyses and sea-fastening design of the offshore structures. You will be also supporting the knowledge management as well as technology initiatives relating to the discipline.
You will be expected to participate creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.
Your main missions will be:
- Develop and design Offshore permanent or temporary Steel Structures: produce and issue as Originator and/or Checker:

- Design Reports, including detailed analysis and calculations, in accordance with acknowledged industry codes, Standards, Design Guidelines, Client Specifications and Scopes of Work;
- Data Sheets, Tender documents, FEED study reports and various third-party submissions;
- Weight Reports and MTO;

- Effectively close internal and external review comments to get the design approved for construction;
- Support to Drawing Office and issuance of fabrication drawings at AFC;
- Support package engineering and management on large structural material procurement packages;
- Provide structural analysis for various subsea structures, rigging/lifting equipment and sea-fastening arrangements utilizing hand calculations (Mathcad), NSO/ISYMOST/SACS and/or ABAQUS/ANSYS software;
- Support the execution of multi-discipline projects in line with defined budget and schedule;
- Liaise with associated disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project;
- Provide structural engineering to other subsea related disciplines, assist with offshore and fabrication yard interfaces;
- More generally, provide structural support to Tenders, FEEDs and EPIC Phases;
- Coach and mentor Junior/Graduate Engineers.
Your profile
- Engineer Diploma or equivalent, preferably in Structural/Civil Engineering;
- Some practical industrial experience (post Graduate scheme or equivalent) in steel construction industry or similar;
- Experiences in the SURF business, Oil and Gas, Subsea equipment or Offshore Renewables structural design related activities such as designing Flowline Structures (FLETs, ILTs), manifolds, suction piles and Installation Aids including Sea-fastening;
- Good knowledge/experience in Steel Structure design, material strength, Naval architecture, piping design;
- Good knowledge of industry standards and design codes (AISC, API, ABS, BV, DNV, Eurocodes…);
- Some knowledge of materials (steels, composites, plastics and polymers in general, …), welding (processes, metallurgy, NDTs), fabrication in general as well as piping, connectors, valves and forgings and associated design codes with some field experience will be a real advantage to your application;
- Competent in design and analysis software packages (ANSYS, SACS, STAAD Pro…) is essential;
- Competent with up-to-date computer applications including MS Word, Excel and Mathcad;
- Ability to prioritize and organize work, to work with limited supervision and as a Team member depending on Project needs;
- Ability to promote an HSE and Quality culture;
- Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization;
- Self-motivated and well-developed interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills – fluency in French and English are essential.
