Overview
The Senior Project Operations Engineer (SPOE) assists the Project Operations Manager planning, managing and executing Operational scopes assigned to them. Typically taking care of a strategic installation vessel and its support spread, from readiness through execution. They will mentor, develop and manage POEs assigned to them.
The SPOE applies advanced operational knowledge typically obtained through work experience to support the POM. They are able to work independently delivering part of the Operations scope of work (with limited supervision and guidance).
The SPOE can also be assigned to a specific tender where they will develop the Execution Plan, the associated offshore schedule, define the marine spread requirements and associated logistics plan for onshore and offshore purpose
What will you be doing?
Vessel Readiness:
- Responsible for his assigned marine spread assurance in coordination with the Marine Assurance experts supporting him (S7, Client and local requirements); he coordinates and organizes supporting surveys and audits as required.
- Check & Ensure Country regulations requirements are followed.
- Check Communication means/ VSAT availability for chartered vessels.
- Organise Manning of chartered vessels with support of Offshore Crewing Group (Define, Allocate, Logistic).
- Define personnel requirements (POB) for the entire vessel (with support of VOM when applicable) as well as support the POB definition for project specific subcontract quantity/ functions.
- Follow-up of chartered vessel management as Vessels Operations Manager (VOM) for Audits, POB definition, Mobilization/demobilization, HSE, Emergency Plan, Scope of work.
- Develop required operational procedures for the execution of the scope
Planning, Budget & Co-ordination:
- Ensure Spread availability, external spread booking
- Attend regular country operations meetings, Construction Review, etc…
- Ensure 3rd party services costs and planning are tracked and monitored.
Logistic Support to Operations:
- Communication with S7 country organization (or local agent) for logistic purposes (Project Equipment and Material) In and Out of Subsea7 Base.
- Monitor local logistic support and participate in improving when possible or when required. Understand and follow the logistic strategy in the country of operations, including crew change, importation/exportation of project equipment and material, as well as vessel clearances in country of Operations.
Mobilisation:
- Prepare and lead the full assigned spread readiness process.
- Co-ordinate Yard activities and load-out sequence for timely delivery of fabricated items.
- Organise timely mobilisation of subcontracted personnel.
- In co-ordination with project HSE manager, ensure resources (Medivac, security boats etc.) to support Offshore Bridging Document (including Emergency Response Plan) are available.
- Review safety reports and participate in closing necessary remedial actions.
Operations:
- Daily Management of support spread in line with vessel requirements (incorporable, fuel, water, food).
- Participate in daily conference call organised by POM, for progress follow up and coordination.
- Support POM liaising with Client regarding assigned scope. Support SIMOPS management as required.
- Provides all documentary evidence necessary to prepare any contractual claims, which may arise for assigned spread.
Demobilisation:
- Ensure all project equipment are timely demobilised and returned to suppliers.
- Ensure liaison with Yard for return of fabricated installation aids and re-certification of rigging
Feedback / Knowledge management:
- Participate in Lessons Learnt meeting.
- Provide input in preparation of Project Operations Debrief Report.
What experience would we like you to have?

- Educated to degree level in engineering degree or related discipline.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in offshore industry, including experiences in offshore operations.
- Good knowledge of logistic rules and principles on which immigration, customs and importation / exportation laws of countries where operations take place are based.
- Fluent in English.
- Good ability to synthesize information.
- Communication & organisational skills.
- Capacity to adapt quickly to changing situations.
