Title:  HR Business Partner

What will you be doing?

The HR Business Partner is responsible for leading and managing the Human Resources function across Australia, ensuring alignment with Subsea7’s global standards and local compliance. This role encompasses industrial and employee relations, legal compliance, recruitment, onboarding, training and development, compensation and benefits, employee engagement, and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. The role will be 14 months temporary contract based in Perth, Australia. 

 

Industrial Relations

  • Act as the primary contact for industrial relations matters, liaising with subcontractors, employees, and clients.
  • Develop IR strategies for tenders and projects, ensuring compliance with labour laws and regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance on IR practices and negotiate enterprise agreements.
  • Deliver training on labour relations and conflict resolution.

 

Employee Relations

  • Implement fair and consistent workplace policies aligned with global standards.
  • Conduct investigations into complaints and performance issues.
  • Mediate conflicts and support performance management processes.
  • Promote employee engagement and a respectful work environment.

 

Compliance

  • Advise on payroll matters including superannuation, PAYG, and FBT.
  • Ensure contracts and policies comply with Fair Work Act, WHS laws, and anti-discrimination legislation.
  • Maintain alignment with NES and FWA regarding leave entitlements.
  • Monitor legislative changes and provide training to ensure ongoing compliance.

 

Employee Engagement

  • Use surveys and data to assess engagement and implement improvement strategies.
  • Recognize employee contributions and support fair compensation.
  • Equip managers with tools to enhance team engagement.
  • Lead diversity and inclusion initiatives, psychological risk assessments, and training programs.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Guide organizational restructures in compliance with Australian legislation.
  • Manage compensation reviews, promotions, and office/facilities budgets.
  • Oversee insurances, internal communications, and the Modern Slavery Statement.
  • Lead Indigenous Engagement strategy and Reconciliation Action Plan.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and development across the region.
  • Oversee mobility and visa strategies for internal and project needs.
  • Support crewing and labour hire subcontractor management.

What experience would we like you to have?

 

  • HR generalist with at least 5 years of experience leading an HR function.
  • Strong experience in Industrial and Employee Relations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with experience managing HR systems.
  • Demonstrable track record in the delivery of processes and procedures that lead to operational efficiency.
  • Has worked in a project led, internationally focussed, capital intensive safety critical business.
  • A high ethical standard and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Previous experience in a large matrix managed organisation.
  • Experience within contracting and / or oil and gas an advantage.
  • Has coached / facilitated change in senior management teams.
