Title: Installation and Project Engineering DDM

What will you be doing?
ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Deputy Discipline Manager (DDM) to join the Installation and Project Engineering (IPE) discipline, within Engineering GPC and focused on the Brazil GPC West region. This position is for a local contract, based in the Rio de Janeiro office, reporting locally to the Country Engineering Manager in Rio, and on the discipline level to the IPE DM.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a team of installation and project engineers, supporting tenders, and project execution.
- Assist the Discipline Manager in daily operations of the Rio-based team.
- Represent the discipline in internal and external meetings.
- Act as technical focal point for installation engineering in GPC Rio.
- Understand offshore construction techniques and their impact on safety, feasibility, and cost.
- Maintain discipline standards and technical capabilities.
- Stay updated on technologies, equipment, and industry standards.
- Support technology development and digitalization initiatives.
- Foster a positive, open, and collaborative work environment.
- Support retention strategies and manage performance reviews and training.
- Plan resources and support recruitment aligned with discipline needs.
AUTHORITY & DIMENSIONS
- Act on behalf of the Discipline Manager when delegated.
- Promote functional initiatives and best practices.
- Initiate reviews or audits to ensure technical quality.
- Mentor team members and support expert committees.
- Ensure commercial and HSEQ awareness within the team.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
External: Clients, subcontractors, academic institutions, recruitment consultants.
Internal: Project and engineering managers, HR, HSEQ, SCM, sales and marketing, functional and regional engineering teams.
What experience would we like you to have?
PROFILE – SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Professional qualification completed.
- Experience in subsea structures installation and/or flexible flowlines/umbilicals.
- Degree in Engineering.
- Offshore operations experience.
- Strong leadership, autonomy, and communication skills.
- Technical and operational expertise in the discipline.
- Ability to manage priorities, make decisions under uncertainty, and plan resources.
- Skilled in developing relationships and mentoring others.
- Client-focused with strategic thinking.
- Fluent in English.
