Job Summary - Tender Estimator
The Senior Tender Estimator works within the Tendering department and is responsible for preparing comprehensive cost and pricing estimates for projects under bidding processes. This includes using spreadsheets (Ecosys and P&L) and corporate systems to ensure all technical, commercial, financial, and tax aspects are considered, in alignment with Subsea 7’s policies and Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates considering pricing structure, client-specific requirements, and tax strategy.
- Develop commercial deliverables such as pricing spreadsheets, physical-financial schedules, and cash flow projections.
- Conduct scenario analysis for cost and pricing, incorporating risks and contingencies into the P&L.
- Integrate local content data with support from specialist teams, ensuring impacts are reflected in the costing.
- Ensure alignment between offshore schedules, project histograms, and cost structure.
- Apply economic indices (inflation, exchange rates, financing) to cost and pricing estimates.
- Include contractual guarantees (Bank Guarantee, Performance Bond, insurance) in the costing evaluation.
- Implement White Book Rates principles and ensure updates are followed.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to align and monitor tender progress.
- Interface with Legal, Engineering, Finance, HSE, Quality, SCM, and other departments to validate costs and impacts.
- Calculate carbon footprint (CfE7, EU ETS, CBAM) and support the Commercial Manager with analyses and presentations.
- Maintain organized records to ensure efficient handover to project teams.
- Attend pursuit meetings and generate cost estimates for prospects when requested.
- Document lessons learned to promote continuous improvement, safety, and integrity in the bidding process.
- Collaborate with all involved departments to ensure consistency between technical and commercial data, applying best practices from the Tendering department.
Education and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or Economics/Business Administration with proven experience as estimator).
- Knowledge of EPCI project execution and cost structure.
- Preferred: experience in commercial proposal development, finance, fluency in English, and advanced Excel.
- Key personal traits: proactivity, strong communication, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in commercial proposals or project development, preferably in the oil & gas sector.
