Introduction
Subsea7 provide clients with a full range of early concept and design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI), heavy lifting, IRM and decommissioning services to the offshore energy industry.
To support our extensive portfolio of current and future projects we are looking for (onshore based) Lead Project Surveyor to support the delivery of projects managed from our office in Stavanger (Norway).
You will have demonstrable knowledge and practical experience of the survey requirements related to offshore subsea construction including LBL positioning, metrology and seabed surveys related to pre & post installation activities related to pipeline, flexible and structure installations.
What will you be doing?
The Lead Project Surveyor acts as a focal point between Subsea 7 Survey and the local Tendering, Project & Operations and Engineering teams. They also co-ordinate the allocation of local resources to support tendering and operations as required whilst also managing the delivery of survey services on project scopes under their direct responsibility.
- Interface with key stakeholders within local Subsea7 business and represent Subsea7 Survey to both internal and external customers
- Provide regular updates and reports on local tenders and survey operations to Survey Operations Manager and others, as required
- Actively promote a culture of collaboration and maintain regular communications with Subsea7 Survey’s central support teams and other regional departments
- Actively promote a positive HSEQ culture, ensuring familiarity with and adherence to Company and local HSEQ codes and practice
- Actively promote a culture of continuous improvement, co-ordinate feedback and lessons from regional operations, identify opportunities for new technologies and methodologies and advise others across Survey
- Participate in regular internal and external seminars, workshops to maintain knowledge of standard operating practices and new methodologies and technologies
- Allocate work to Project Surveyors within the specific local office and ensure suitable review and approval of tender deliverables, procedures, reports, technical documentation and other material produced by project surveyors within the region
- Manage individual and team attendance and performance through regular reviews and feedback
- Support the professional development of team members through mentoring and goal setting
- Identify and address performance issues proactively
- Liaise with Survey Operations Manager to ensure that suitable offshore personnel and equipment assets are allocated to the regional offshore operations
- Support tenders as required through preparation or validation of technical studies for design or installation, method statements, schedule, equipment and personnel requirements and costs and propose suitable clarifications and qualifications as required
- Maintain awareness of the project requirements and schedule through regular attendance at project meetings and reviews
- Maintain awareness of budget for survey within project and advise of material changes that may influence budget either positively or negatively
- Plan survey scope of work, deliverables and resources according to project requirements
- Propose new technical methodologies and solutions and ensure suitable internal review and approval
- Prepare calculation notes, procedures, materials lists, requisitions, specifications and other documents as required for input to project
- Review relevant project drawings and engineering documents to ensure that survey requirements are fully included and developed
- Participate in SITs and FATs as required
- Brief offshore survey personnel on project requirements and maintain regular contact with the offshore survey team throughout the offshore campaign
- Undertake quality control of survey data including calibrations, computations, field reports, final reports, drawings and as-built documentation
- Any other responsibilities as directed by the Survey Operations Manager or Global Survey Manager
What experience would we like you to have?
- High level of knowledge and understanding of current offshore construction/IMR/survey techniques, technologies and best practice
- Degree, diploma or equivalent level education in relevant subject is beneficial, but not essential
- Membership / affiliation with role relevant professional body is beneficial but not essential
- IT Proficient, including Microsoft Office
- People management skills; able to motivate, lead and develop a team
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable conversing in English, both verbally and in writing
