Title:  Senior Flexible Pipe Engineer

Subsea 7 has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Flexible Pipe Engineer to join our engineering team on a full-time permanent basis, located at either our St. John’s, Canada or Aberdeen, Scotland offices.

 

This role will play a key part in delivering technically robust flexible pipe engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining effective interfaces with suppliers, clients, and internal teams. The chosen candidate will support the principal flexible pipe engineer and project engineering manager with delivery of flexible risers, jumpers and flowlines on budget and on schedule within projects and tenders.

 

The candidate will bring comprehensive technical experience, clear leadership, and a solutions-driven style to ensure top-quality project delivery. This role will require regular travel internationally, occasionally at short notice, for technical meetings with suppliers and clients plus follow of production fabrication and testing.

What will you be doing?

This will be a highly varied role but some of the main responsibilities will include:

 

  • Interpret and understand client requirements, translating them into detailed technical scopes of work.
  • Checking of technical documentation produced by Subsea7, its clients and suppliers.
  • Manage and follow up on design, manufacturing, qualification, and testing activities.
  • Provide engineering support during flexible pipe and ancillary verification/ qualification testing, fabrication, FATs, SITs, and vessel mobilisation.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues including interfaces, design queries, NCRs, and deviations.
  • Manage interfaces among internal teams, suppliers, client contractors, and clients to ensure consistent, timely delivery.
  • Apply advanced knowledge in flexible pipe systems and associated ancillaries such as DBSC, bend stiffeners, and buoyancy modules.
  • Perform or critically review hydrodynamic configuration analyses.
  • Contribute as required to events and meeting with flexible pipe/ ancillary suppliers and clients such as Kick-off meetings, design review, HIRAs, pre-production, FAT, SIT and investigations.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering subject.  Consideration will be given to equivalent qualifications.
  • Registered P.Eng with PEGNL (for Canadian based candidates).
  • Relevant demonstrable experience in a flexible pipe engineering role within the offshore industry.
  • Extensive technical understanding of flexible pipe designs, ancillaries, and associated analyses.
  • Sound and demonstrable understanding of relevant design codes and standards (API, DNV, etc.).
  • Sound knowledge of OrcaFlex.
