What is the role?

Seaway7 are looking for a motivated and detail-orientated Contracts Manager to join our team at our Seaway7 offices in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands on a full-time staff basis.

 

The ideal candidate will bring comprehensive experience in pre-award and post-award contract management activities in support of large-scale offshore wind development projects, particularly those involving marine operations and the procurement of major CAPEX equipment. Candidates with a background in shipbuilding, ship repair or heavy engineering projects are also encouraged to apply.

 

The Contracts Manager role sits within the Supply Chain Management (SCM), Contracts and Chartering department of the Seaway7 Offshore Delivery function.

 

The Offshore Delivery function is responsible for providing and ensuring the operational capability of the vessels, equipment, crew and onshore support facilities that power Seaway7 projects and offshore operations worldwide.

 

The Contracts Manager role will report into the Subsea7 Offshore Delivery Contracts department based in our office in Westhill, Aberdeen, UK and will be primarily responsible for providing efficient procurement and contract management support to the Seaway7 Fleet & Equipment organisation and the Subsea7 newbuild and asset development organisation in accordance with company procedures.

 

You will work in multidisciplinary teams giving you the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the delivery of offshore renewable energy solutions.

 

Due to the nature of the role, occasional domestic and international travel to regional offices and operational worksites will be required.

What will you be doing?

 

General

 

  • Provide mentoring, guidance and direction to less experienced team members.
  • Budget forecasting and cost control.
  • Researching, analysing and identifying new potential suppliers via inspections and risk assessment. 
  • Establish new contacts in the offshore renewables engineering and manufacturing market to build long-term relationships with both current and new suppliers.
  • Provide input to feasibility studies and assessment of project viability.
  • Preparation and overseeing of supplier invitation to tender packages
  • Evaluating and negotiating tenders and producing recommendations for award based on commercial/contractual criteria.
  • Identifying and implementing strategies for the management of risk, value engineering and cost control measures including management of change.
  • Design and implementing site query / Instruction process in order to control and manage change.

 

Contract Management

 

  • You will oversee high value and complex commercial, technical and contractual negotiations.
  • Liaise on matters of contract risk and disputes.
  • Monitoring and reporting on subcontractor performance.
  • Consulting and understanding stakeholder requirements and ensure deliverables meet their needs.
  • Providing advice on cost management and project delivery.

 

Financial Management

 

  • Ensure Projects are completed within budget in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Management of payment and financial records.
  • Participate in conducting cost analysis and variance reporting.
  • Post project financial analysis and feedback reporting.
  • Contributing to the cost database for future budgeting purposes.

 

Procurement

 

  • Implementing procurement strategies for project requirements.
  • Sourcing of and purchase of materials.
  • Supporting the procurement group with contractual guidance.
  • Ensuring quality and delivery requirements of goods and services align with the terms of contract.
  • Site visits to assess potential new suppliers.
  • The establishment and on-going management of historic cost registers.
  • Attendance at Seaway7 vessels and sites to assist in formulation of scopes of work
  • Project Delivery
  • Monitoring project progress and identifying potential issues.
  • Ensuring projects are completed and closed out to the required standards.

 

Value Engineering

 

  • Identifying opportunities to improve project value and reduce cost and schedule.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Experience working in a similar role in the construction, marine, subsea or offshore sector.
  • Adopts a positive proactive approach.
  • Sound contractual knowledge and ability to problem solve.
  • Able to demonstrate sound commercial awareness.
  • Possesses meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce work of a high quality
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) in English, with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Demonstrates an ability to coordinate workloads and prioritise according to business needs.
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive setting which expects the highest levels of confidentiality and ethical behaviour.
